The Story of Nisto Rescue Equipment

Nisto Incorporated was founded in 1975 by Edward Nist, a veteran and career lineman who started as a lineman in Illinois and then for Florida Power and Light. Ed, whose nickname by his FP&L co-workers was “Nisto”, invented the first boom bucket rescue device after a tragic accident involving one of his crew-mates. Though Nisto Incorporated grew, Ed continued to work as a lineman for Florida Power & Light until his retirement. After his retirement from FP&L, Ed continued his passion for perserving the lives of his “brotherhood” of linemen nation-wide as he worked at Nisto Inc. and provided trainings at various safety meetings.

Ed’s legacy remains at Nisto Inc. as the second generation of the Nist family carry on the passion for preserving lives of those who risk all to provide the very essential ingredient for living-electricity.
